Gibbons
Studying "Great Lord of Lords" by Orlando Gibbons. We will sing it in St. Albans. Here it is sung by the Canterbury Cathedral Choir with some very good soloists and only male voices. We are a mixed choir and won't achieve that level, but it will still be wonderful to sing. I think this music extremely moving.

It's a beautiful, moving performance. Their relaxed, prayerful way of singing the piece is especially effective. I hope we can do the same next week. Oh to be a countertenor...
ReplyDeleteLooking forward to next week. But as beautiful as this??? I hope so.
ReplyDeleteOf course ECS can sing thsi prayerfully especially with balanced small numbers. ATKM sang this in York years ago under the crossing with 12 vocies and it blew everyone away.
